Raymond E. Hoch

Raymond E. Hoch Raymond E. Hoch, 89, formerly of Bessemer, went to be with his Lord at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. After an extended illness, he quietly and peacefully passed away with loved ones by his side.
Raymond was born on March 6, 1928, in New Castle, Pa., the son of Oliver and Grace (Cook) Hoch.
He married Eleanor (Grist) Hoch on Sept. 12, 1953.
Raymond served his country from February 1946 to February 1948 as a member of the Army Air-Corp.
He was employed at the Bessemer Croatian Club for 27 years as Steward and again served as the association's treasurer from 2004-2015. Raymond was also employed for 14 years with Jameson Health System, serving as a van transport driver and courier. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Club.
Mr. Hoch is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Klumph and her husband, Charles, of Mercer, Pa., where he resided during the final years of his life. He also leaves a sister, Joanne Stroud of Midlothian, Va., as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hoch was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Margaret McKibben of New Castle, Jeanne Tatterson of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and brother, Oliver Hoch of New Castle.
Mr. Hoch greatly enjoyed playing baseball and watching numerous sports. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He liked to play cards, spend time at Mountaineer Casino playing slot machines, dine at various area restaurants, and visit with his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him, but they rejoice as he has been reunited with his bride after 16 years of separation.
The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St., Bessemer. A funeral service conducted by Pastor Joette Lehberger, his niece, will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
