Rebecca E. Fox, 88, formerly of West North Street, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 1, 1929, in New Castle, she was a daughter of Armondo and Almarina Bellini Catalani.
She was preceded in death on March 9, 1989, by her husband, Norman V. Fox.
Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and was employed at Strouss' Department Store in earlier years.
She enjoyed going to church and Bible study on Tuesday. She was very active at First Assembly of God. She loved to sing. She had a Christian Baptism on Aug. 28, 1949. She loved the Lord with all her heart and missed her husband, Norman, very much.
She loved reading her Bible, cooking big family meals, spending time with family and friends and her grandchildren. She was very kind-hearted and outgoing, and had the best sense of humor and loved to laugh.
She and Norman were always helping people and their home was always open to someone in need.
She is survived by her children, Norman Fox (Linda) of New Castle, David Fox (Paula) of Gallatin, Tennessee, Vickie Schlehr (Jerry) of Rhoadesville, Virginia, and Karen Purvis (Bill) of North Ridgeville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, the late Christina Fox, Amy Simpson (Russ), Lauren Tarnaski, David Fox (Kristin), Daniel Fox (Bonnie), Elizabeth Cook (Frank), Carrie Cwynar (Mark), Jennifer Dumbaugh (Bret) and Christina Bertolino; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob Fox, Allison, Natalie and Christopher Fox, Katherine Fox, Joseph and Nicholas Cook, Caitlyn and Macey Cwynar and Isabel and Sophia Dumbaugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Armondo and Almarina Bellini Catalani; her husband of 41 years, Norman V. Fox; a brother, Dusty Catalani of New Castle; five sisters, Josephine Casillo of New Castle, Pauline Galetta of Philadelphia, Custalina Malandro of New Castle, Angeline Gorgacz of New Castle and Mary Williams of New Castle; and a granddaughter, Christina Kay Fox.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Stoecker officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
