Death occurred for Richard Merle Dicks on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he has lived for the past year.
Richard was born on Nov. 8, 1938, in New Castle, a son of Merle L. Dicks and Kathryn Davenport Dicks.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh and Youngstown University.
He was a proud veteran of Army. "Hug a Veteran."
Richard was a former member of the Second Presbyterian Church in New Castle.
Richard's career was in construction management, working as a project manager for the Raytheon Company and Parson's Company, both in New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Craig Dicks.
On Sept. 9, 1961, he married Marilyn Cleland, and she survives him. He is also survived by son, David C. Dicks and Tammy Wigton Dicks of Rochester, New York; daughter, Patricia Bigley and Gary Bigley of Goldsboro; granddaughters, Merrissa Peralta and Nestarlin Peralta, and Felicia Glatz and Chris Glatz, both of Rochester; grandson, Aiden Bigley of Goldsboro; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grace, Joshua, Blake and Elena, all of Rochester.
To know Richard was to love him. His great sense of humor and love will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the care givers at 3HC for the health care services they provided.
