Richard J. Harvey, 81, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Oct. 1, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born July 29, 1936, in Greenville, Pa., he was the son of John C. and Mabel Barnhart Harvey.
He was preceded in death on Dec. 29, 2000, by his wife of 39 years, Grace L. Valenti Harvey, whom he married Feb. 4, 1961.
Richard served in the Korean conflict with the Marine Corps for four years and was a member of the National Guard for two years.
He was employed with Penn Power as a boiler operator.
He held memberships with several organizations including the VFW in West Middlesex, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed genealogy.
He is survived by five daughters, Theresa Harvey, Donna Jolley of Ohio, Connie (Doug) Garver of New Castle, Kimberly (Scott) Reed of New Castle and Roberta Jean Harvey of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Richard's request, there will be no calling hours.
