Richard L. Szymanski Sr., 73, of New Castle passed away the morning of Sept. 25, 2017, with his family by his side.
Richard was born on March 2, 1944, in Kittanning, Pa. He was the son of the late Lewis B. and Theresa Rybarik Szymanski.
Mr. Szymanski was married to the former Sandra L. Brennan. She survives at home. They were married for 53 years.
Richard was Roman Catholic and attended Mary, Mother of Hope Parish.
He was a graduate of Ford City High School, class of 1961. Mr. Szymanski attended Penn State University and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Youngstown State University.
Mr. Szymanski retired as a supervisor from Warren Consolidated Industrial in Warren, Ohio.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He loved going hunting and fly fishing with his grandchildren. Mr. Szymanski enjoyed teaching his grandchildren the art of tying flies.
Richard was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest 146, the Eintracht Club, Bessemer Croatian Club and Silver Sneakers at the YMCA.
His family would like to personally thank the Three Rivers Hospice for their extraordinary care.
In addition to his wife Sandra, Richard is survived by his son, Richard L. Szymanski Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Lauri L. (Larry) Parker of Wampum, Pa.; two brothers, Alan (Kay) Szymanski and Kenneth (Debbie) Szymanski, both of Ford City, Pa.; sister, Sandra L. Szymanski of Manorville, Pa.; and two loving grandchildren, Tristan Parker and Brady Parker.
Mr. Szymanski was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, William Brennan; and mother-in-law, Twila Brennan.
A private blessing service will be held for his family on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. The Rev. William P. Siple, Parochial Vicar of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made in his name to Three Rivers Hospice, 26 Nesbitt Road, New Castle, Pa. 16105.
