Robert W. 'Exie' McConnell

February 18, 1943 - January 11, 2019

Robert W. Exie McConnell Robert William "Exie" McConnell, 75, of West North Street died Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at his residence in New Castle.
He was born in New Castle on Feb. 18, 1943, a son of the late Charles and Margaret (Tucker) McConnell.
Mr. McConnell was an engineer for CSX, retiring after 30 years.
He was an Army veteran serving stateside.
Mr. McConnell was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved everything New Castle for life.
He is survived by two children, Justin C. McConnell and his wife, Tiffiney, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Megan E. Carlisle and her husband, Michael, of Petal, Mississippi; a sister, Janet Aquillo of Lancaster, Ohio; and four grandsons, Hutson and Harper McConnell and Cane and Cooper Carlisle.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave.

I was sad when I got the news Exie had passed. Altho we drifted apart over the years, we shared a lot of great times. To the family I extend my deepest sympathies.
