Robert Wilson Taylor Jr., 93, of Jameson Care Center, Neshannock Township, formerly of Meadow View Drive, New Castle, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Jameson Care Center.
Born in Mahoningtown on March 3, 1923, to the late Robert W. and Amelia Hartwell Taylor, he married the former Ida Wiley on Aug. 25, 1944. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2008.
Bob was a 1941 graduate of Ellwood City Lincoln High School and 1950 graduate of Westminster College. He earned his master's degree from Westminster College in 1965.
He served his country in the Army Aircorp during World War II.
Mr. Taylor was a history teacher in the Wilmington Area School District, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for 55 years. He also sang with the Youngstown and Shenango Valley Symphony and the Westminster Alumni Choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan T. Pruszewski and her fiance, William Paul Benson, of Pulaski; a son, Robert Wilson "Rob" Taylor III and his wife, Sharyn, of Willmar, Minnesota; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Robert Taylor; and his sister, Marjorie Bintrim.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church, The Rev. David Dawson will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock, Ave., New Wilmington.
