Rosina J. Melchiorre

Rosina J. Melchiorre, 86, of New Castle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Pittsburgh's UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosina was born in New Castle on Sept. 16, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Greco Coiro.
Rosina shared nearly 61 years of marriage with her loving and devoted husband, Joseph L. Melchiorre, who she married on May 3, 1958.
Rosina had worked as a finance clerk for the city of New Castle for 27 years before she retired.
She led an exemplary life centered on her Catholic faith, love of family and strength of character. Rosina had an unwavering faith in God; she was strongly dedicated to the church and regularly attended Mass throughout her entire life.
She spent countless hours volunteering at Saint Camillus Parish and held a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, to the protection of the unborn and to the poor.
Rosina was blessed with a large and loving family. Her kindness, patience and generosity knew no bounds. She immersed herself in her family and especially loved doting on her grandchildren. She maintained close relationships with her family members and friends, and made it a priority to attend activities and events marking special times in their lives. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Bringing tremendous joy to her family and friends, she served as an absolute inspiration to all. As the true matriarch of her extended family, Rosina served as a wise and loving role model for her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, who viewed her as one of the kindest, sweetest people in their lives.
She was a woman of unconditional love. Her family and friends will dearly miss her soft-spoken gentleness, her faith driven guidance and her steadfast support.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Lori Melchiorre, Joe (Johnna) Melchiorre and Amy (William) Edwards; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Maria, Vincent, Dominic, Joseph, Mia and Elaina; great-grandson, Jace; and a sister, Annette Doran.
In addition to her parents, Rosina was preceded in death by a sister Madeline Betts, and a brother, Alfred Coiro.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Camillus Church. The Rev. Philip Farrell will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to People Concerned for the Unborn Child, New Castle Chapter, Box 7723, New Castle, Pa. 16107.

Such a beautiful and devout woman. Met her at the adoration chapel, she had the hour before mine. Always had a smile for everyone, even when you could tell she wasn’t feeling up to par. I will think of her every time I look at the pew she always sat in. She truly went to heaven.
