Sara "Sally" Forkey, 90, of West North Street passed away the morning of Aug. 7, 2019, at her residence.
Sally was born on Feb. 23, 1929, in Grant Town, West Virginia.
After moving to New Castle, she was employed with Johnson Bronze and the Knitting Mill.
An avid bowler, Sally was a junior bowling coach for which she was inducted into the Lawrence County Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Both she and her daughter, (Shari), were the first mother and daughter to be inducted.
She is survived by five daughters, Marcy R. Lautz of Garland, Texas, Sandra J. Ayersman of New Castle, Verna G. (Ivan) Podgorscak of Mount Jackson, Karen (Doug) Russell of Wampum and Shari (Dan) Phillips of New Castle; two sons, Charles E. (Diane) Walker of Oak Hill, Florida, and Harold R. "Dick" Forkey Jr. of New Castle; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson and her former husband, Harold R. Forkey Sr.
A special thank you to Allegheny Health Network/Healthcare at Home and the Rev. Matthew Bupp and her caretakers for the caring and compassion during Sally's time of need.
In keeping with Sally's wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. of New Castle.

My condolences to all of you and your families! Growing up I remember going to your house everyone piling in car and going to milk store on or near Ohio line! Will remember all the fun times growing up! Memories abound thinking back many years!love to you all!!
