Shirley Eileen Buckwalter, 90, of Buckwalter Road, New Wilmington, Pa., Shenango Township, Mercer County, died at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare, New Wilmington, on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at 2:40 a.m.
Shirley was born in New Castle, Pa., on Sept. 23, 1927, to the late Harry William and Kathryn McConnell Maughan. She married Joseph Witwer Buckwalter on June 19, 1945, and he preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2006.
Shirley was a homemaker and a member of Neshannock Presbyterian Church, New Wilmington, where she served as a trustee and deacon and sang in the choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Richard) Rippy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Deborah (Raymond) Broomall of Manassas, Va.; two sons, Terry E. (Flo) Buckwalter and Joseph (Mary) Buckwalter Jr., both of New Wilmington; one sister, Adele Marie Maughan of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean Buckwalter; one brother, Norman Alan Maughan; and two sisters, Betty Anderson and Carol McClelland.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2016, from 5 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William H. Stone Jr., pastor of Neshannock Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will follow at Neshannock Cemetery, New Wilmington.
