Stella K. Cwykala, 91, formerly of New Castle, passed away the morning of Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Friends Care Center in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Stella was born on March 18, 1926, in Ellwood City. She was a daughter of the late Vincent and Kristina Biedka Sharek.
She was married to Stanley T. Cwykala. They were married for 55 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2000.
Stella was of the Roman Catholic faith and a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Mrs. Cwykala will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. Stella worked outside the home for three years as a machine operator at the former Johnson Bronze Company. Stella retired after 17 years of service in the laundry department at the former St. Francis Hospital.
Stella enjoyed working with her hands cooking, gardening and baking.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Cwykala of Greenville; her son, Michael S. (Sherry) Cwiakala of Xenia, Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley, Walter, Alex, and Victor Sharek; and six sisters, Josephine Brysh, Mary Preisnar, Frances Sasiadek, Anna Wyza, Julia Ratkovich and Helen Jakiella.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A blessing and committal service will be held at noon Friday following visitation. Deacon John Carran will officiate.
Burial will be in SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
