Susan Elizabeth's Story
Susan Elizabeth "Libby" Cowan, 92, of Slippery Rock passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at her residence.
She was born in Rose Point, Lawrence County, on Dec. 6, 1924, to Charles McFarland and Sarah Wagner McFarland.
During World War II, she worked for a pants factory making military uniforms.
She married Albert Joseph Cowan on April 30, 1943.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Harlansburg.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working with flowers, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Albert, at home; three sons, Albert Cowan (Shari) of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Kenneth Cowan (Nancy) of Huntington, Indiana, and Larry Cowan (Flora) of Slippery Rock; two daughters, Cheryl Cowan Davis of New Castle and Pamela Cowan Downing of West Middlesex; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Terry, Joseph and Daniel Cowan, Gina D'Aurio and Ben D'Aurio, Katy Davis Runyon, Charles Cowan, Elizabeth Cowan, Rachel (Stoner) Mack and Heather Stoner; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Unity Baptist Church in Harlansburg, 304 Old Route 19.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Zach Dudenhofer presiding.
Interment will be in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
