Thomas H. Kysor
Born Sept. 29, 1923, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was the son of Olls James and Hattie (Holbert) Kysor. He married Mary (Koprivnak) Kysor on Jan. 10, 1972. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2013.
Mr. Kysor was a World War II veteran. Shortly after serving his country, he graduated from Thiel College in 1950. Thomas enjoyed his work as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, supervisor and program administrator. He was also the owner and operator of Pinewoods Inn in Union City.
Thomas was a life member of National Rehabilitation Association, American Legion New Castle Post 343; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Cherry Valley and Disabled American Veterans, Lawrence County chapter. He was a member of 40 & 8 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles; performed regular volunteer work at the Butler VAMC; and was on the advisory board of Butler County, Area Agency on Aging, since 1995.
Thomas especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Thomas is survived by a son, Thomas (Kathy) Kysor of Wilmington, Del.; a daughter, Tamara (John) Kearney of Coventry, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Sally (Olin) Seidler; one sister, Patsy A. Nichols of Corry, Pa.; grandchildren, Scott Seidler of Union City, Meagan (Dylan) Kearney of Vernon, Del., and Brian Kearney of Burlington, Vt.; a great-granddaughter, Stacie Seidler; a great-grandson, Derrick Seidler; and a great-great-grandson, Mason Thomas.
Along with his parents and wife, Mary, Thomas was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Darrell, Malcolm and John H. Kysor, and one sister, Lillian Fay.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa. An honor guard service will take place immediately following visitation at 1 p.m., where military rites will be given and the Rev. Fredrick H. Gilbert, will be officiating.
Burial will be at Rootville Cemetery.
