Thomas Robert's Story
Thomas Robert Black, 76, of West Garfield Avenue, New Castle, died at his residence the evening of Friday, July 6, 2018.
He was born in New Castle on Oct. 27, 1941, to the late Frederick William and Dorothy Jean Frankenburg Black.
Tom graduated from New Castle High School in 1959 and Youngstown State University with a degree in business administration in 1969.
He was a parts manager for different businesses and retired from Behm Chevy of New Wilmington, heading up the parts department.
He studied genealogy and enjoyed the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He possessed a love of music and cars of the 1950s and 1960s. His life was enriched by his beloved dog, "Mitzi."
Survivors include a brother, Dennis Black and his wife, Lauren, of Lady Lake, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the White Chapel United Methodist Church, 415 New Castle-Mercer Road, New Wilmington.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Gary Scheesley officiating.
Interment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens, Neshannock Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer or Lawrence County Historical Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
