Tony L. DoVidio, 93, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away the evening of Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born on Oct. 1, 1923 in New Castle, he was a son of the late Frank and Bettina Mangino DoVidio.
On Oct. 6, 1947, he married his beloved wife, the former Lena C Russo, and the two of them spent more than 57 years together until she preceded him in death on June 10, 2005.
A 1943 graduate of New Castle High School, Tony retired as a machinist helper for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He also served his country as a member of the Navy during World War II, earning the World War II Victory Medal.
He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Slovene National Benefit Society and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church.
Tony is survived by his brothers, Ralph DoVidio and his wife, Ann Marie, of New Castle and James DoVidio and his wife, Patricia, of North Carolina; his sister, Dolly Villani and her husband, Nick, of New Castle; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Francis DoVidio; his brother, Charles DoVidio; and his sisters, Tressa Ross, Angeline Rubbo, and Jennie (Tina) Etherton.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Blessing services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade of St. Vitus Church.
Interment will take place in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
