Vincent's Story

Vincent P. "Willy" Mikolz, 87, of 520 New Castle St., New Wilmington, passed away the morning of Oct. 1, 2017, at Shenango on the Green, Presbyterian Home.
Vincent was born June 4, 1930, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Stanley and Michaelina Polak Mikolz Sr.
Mr. Mikolz was Roman Catholic and attended Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Vincent was a graduate of New Wilmington High School, class of 1948.
Mr. Mikolz was a self-employed farmer and retired after many years farming. He enjoyed painting, writing articles for the Globe and reading. Vincent loved going fishing locally and in Canada. He enjoyed tying his own flies. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Vincent is survived by two nieces, Jane T. (Rob) Stembal and Monica H. (Gary) Mackey, both of Volant, Pa.; great-niece, Erica L. Mackey of Volant; and great-nephew, Michael J. Stembal of Volant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Stanley, Joseph and Walter Mikolz, and his infant sister, Helen Mikolz.
Following his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service was held yesterday at SS Philip and James Cemetery. Seminarian Matthew Hawkins will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations are made in his name to the Lawrence County Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Road, New Castle, Pa. 16101.
Local arrangements entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S Mill Street.
