Wilbur James "Babe" Heasley, 86, of Polk City, Fla., passed away on Dec. 13, 2017,at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Heasley is survived by his wife of 48 years, Josephine Ann Heasley; his three children, Michael David Heasley, Diana Lynn (Peter) Baron and Gina (Patrick) Blunt Gonzalez; sisters, Donna Lou Vitale and Bonnie Mae Valline; and his seven grandchildren.
James was born on April 13, 1931, in New Castle, Pa., to Harry and Elsie Heasley.
He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland, Fla.
James was an accomplished baker. He and Josephine owned Gina's Bakery in New Castle, Pa., before migrating south and becoming the supervisor at the Lakeland Publix Bakery Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Peter Heasley and Elsie Margaret Heasley; former wife, Marietta Priscaro Heasley; his two brothers, Harry Devere Heasley and Robert Howard Heasley; and his son-in-law, Bradford Church Blunt.
James was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was an avid sports fan who never missed an opportunity to watch the Steelers or Notre Dame play football. He was a generous kind-hearted man known for his warm hospitality and epic Christmas parties.
