William James Champion, 73, of Wampum passed away the evening of Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside.
Born on Jan. 26, 1944, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Leslie D. and Gertrude M. Boozell Champion.
William had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder.
He is survived by his children, James Champion and wife, Vivian, of Wampum, Gertrude Worrell and husband, Richard, of Ellwood City, Doreen Gravatt and husband, Jeff, of Wampum, Cathy Mullins and husband, Chris, of Chatsworth, Georgia, and Billie Esposito of Beaver Falls; sisters, Rachel Greenwalt of Chicago and Kathleen Conrad of Ocoee, Florida; brother, Harold Champion of Ellwood City; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Champion; brother, Leslie Champion; and sisters, Mary Powell and Margaret Dobbins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 220 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City.
Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at the church, conducted by Pastor Dave McQuaid.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
