A. Claire's Story
A. Claire Churchill, 90, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Mrs. Churchill was born on Feb. 7, 1927, in New Castle to the late William and Margaret Murphy Kelly.
Her husband of nearly 56 years and love of her life, Herbert Churchill, whom she married on Oct. 27, 1951, preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2007.
She worked side by side with her husband, Herb, for many years as a bookkeeper at Moravia Warehouse.
A very devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. Camillus de Lellis Church.
Claire loved having breakfast at Tanner's Restaurant, where she enjoyed the company of both her friends and the staff.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are three sons, Robert E. Churchill and his wife, Susan, of New Castle, Herbert S. Churchill and his wife, Georgiana, of Avon, Ohio, and Jeffrey Churchill and his wife, Kimberly, of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Claire was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ann Bales; four sisters, Margaret Baxter, Catherine Kelly, Mary Dutzer and Delores Kelly; and a brother, William Kelly.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for St. Camillus de Lellis Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Michael Peck, pastor.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
