There will be a memorial service on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Barbara A. Svetlak known as "Bobbie," 72, of New Bedford, who passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.
Barb was born June 3, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Anthony and Anna Kuty Halicki.
She was a 1962 graduate of Hubbard High School and was of Catholic faith.
She was hired as a cook in 1986 at the former Pat's Place on U.S. 422 in Coitsville, Ohio, and later she became a business owner when she bought the restaurant and opened it as Barb's Cozy Corner on Jan. 1, 1990. After 26 years in the restaurant business she retired in 2015.
Barb was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, gambling, knitting and crocheting, and had coached Little League baseball.
She was affectionately known as Grandma Pumpkin to her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her family; her children, Barbara (Wesley) Osborne of Pulaski, Pa., and Susan M. (Carl) Fette, Thomas (Sheris) Svetlak, both of New Bedford; her longtime companion Jack Nelson of Coitsville; her grandchildren, Dannielle Slaven, Billy (Casey) Slaven, Sam (Lynnette) Slaven, Rose Fette and Grace Fette; and stepgrandchildren, Cody and Colton Osborne, Logan Dolby, and Katie and Gabe Velez; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Billy, Kennedy and Esmae Slaven.
She also leaves her sister, Ruth Means of Hubbard, and her brother, John (Eileen) Halicki of Georgetown, Texas.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Halicki.
There will be calling hours on Monday, March 20, 2017, and one hour prior to the service from 5 to 6 p.m.at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, 407 W. Liberty St., Hubbard, Ohio.
