Bernice Proctor, 94, of New Middletown, Ohio, went to meet her savior on the morning of Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Bernice was born on April 4, 1922, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Alfred and Jessie Stanley Benson.
She grew up in Bessemer and graduated from Bessemer High.
She was the widow of the late William Proctor, whom she married on Feb. 4, 1941.
Bernice was a devoted homemaker, who cherished the care of her family.
She was a lifelong member of Bessemer Presbyterian Church and carried her faith proudly.
She enjoyed bingo, cards, word puzzles and reading. She missed the days of dancing with her late husband and their friends.
She served on the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary when her husband was post commander at the Earl J. Watt Post in Bessemer.
She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and MaryAnn Proctor of Bessemer, and her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tom McCalla of Enon Valley. Bernice was grandmother to give, great-grandmother to 12 and great-great-grandmother to two.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two brothers.
Visitation is scheduled 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home at 203 Oak St., Bessemer.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bessemer Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nathan Leslie officiating.
Bernice will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery.
