Born on Jan. 25, 1947, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Donna J. White Hess.
On June 26, 1965, she married her beloved husband, David R. Stoops, and the two of them spent 30 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1995.
Beverly was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1965 and attended Penn State University.
A former Pennsylvania licensed real estate broker, she sold real estate in Lawrence County for 30 years and was the former co-owner of Peoples Realty.
Beverly served as a former member and officer of the Lawrence County Board of Realtors.
She was a member and former president, treasurer and trustee of the VFW Post 315 Women's Auxiliary. Beverly currently served as the treasurer of the UTU Women's Auxiliary and was a delegate to the UTU National Convention. She also belonged to the group's scholarship board, where she had served as the secretary for two years.
She loved traveling, taking cruises, cooking for her family and gardening, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by her children, Georgene and Joseph Withrow, David L. Stoops and Scott A. Stoops, all of New Castle; her brother, Gary Hess and his wife, Candy, of New Castle; her grandchildren, Kyle Withrow, Kelsey Withrow, David L. Stoops, Samantha Stoops, Scott M. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by her brother-in-law, the Rev. Terry Stoops.
