Charles C. "Doc" Daugherty, 79, of New Castle passed away the evening of Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on July 24, 1937, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Jake and Betty Regna.
He also was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Karen L. Durant, whom he married in September 1958.
Charles retired as a roller for Sharon Steel. He also owned and operated Daugherty Boarding Kennel for many years.
Charles had served his country as a member of the Air Force.
He loved Irish music and raising his bulldogs, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Kelly Knight and her husband, James Jr., of Volant; his grandchildren, Trisha L. Knight and James B. Knight III and his wife, Alexis; and his great-grandchild, Jaelyn Lane Mathieson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey and John "Jack" Daugherty.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Bupp. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Fair Oaks Cemetery.
