Chris Demos, 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 15, 2017 at his residence. Born on June 22, 1933 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Frank and Maria Stephanou Demos. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 58 wonderful years, the former Mary Ann Dimeco, whom he married on August 2, 1958.
Chris had worked for B&O Railroad and as a receiving clerk for Pecor/Pennsylvania Engineering. He later owned the Croton Cafe. Chris served his country as a member of the U.S Army. In his earlier years, he coached Little League Baseball and played Fast Pitch Softball. An avid and well-known local bowler, Chris was involved with many leagues and tournaments. He earned several 700 series and a 300 game for which he received a diamond ring. Chris enjoyed gardening, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by his children, Chris A. Demos and Stacey Vercilla and husband Tony, all of New Castle; brother, Pete Demos of New Castle; sister, Bessie Maragos of Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren, Kandace Vercilla, Kara Vercilla, and Christopher Demos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Anthony Demos.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Blessing services will be conducted Monday at 10:00am at DeCarbo's, conducted by Father Joseph Codori.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
