Christine's Story

Former New Castle resident Christine Geraldine DeCarbo Crangi, 103, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at her residence in Georgia.
Born on Oct. 4, 1913, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Pasqualina Sartore DeCarbo.
On Oct. 14, 1939, she married her beloved husband, Jerry Crangi, and the two of them spent more than 37 years together until he preceded her in death on March 12, 1977.
Christine graduated magna cum lade and earned an associate's degree in interior design.
She retired at the age of 96 as the owner and operator of Christine Interiors in Florida.
A long-standing member of the International Furnishings and Design Association, she continued her studies with the Interior Design Continuing Education Council throughout the world.
Christine was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Miami, Florida, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Boca Raton, Florida.
Christine is survived by her children, Sondra (Jim) Cundiff, with whom she resided, Philip (Judy) Crangi of Boca Raton, Florida, and Jerry Crangi of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren, Christine (Lance) Holland, Jennifer Cundiff, James (Carol) Cundiff, Philip (Darren) Crangi and Courtney (Jenna) Crangi; and her great-grandchildren, Sydney, Sofia, Charlie, Olivia, Casey, Coco and Beckett.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Nick DeCarbo, Frank W. DeCarbo, William F. DeCarbo Sr., Edward A. DeCarbo Sr., Vincent DeCarbo and two infant brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
Blessing services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.
Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
