Clara "Mary"'s Story
On Saturday, May 13, 2017, Clara "Mary" Tillia, 90, of Slippery Rock Township passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on July 29, 1926 in McConnell's Mill near New Castle, a daughter of the late John F. and Verna Mary (Reno) Glasser.
Mary is survived by her children, Charles F. (Judy) Tillia, Elaine (Ronald) Lechner and Joanne (Jeff) Guerra; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death this past November by her beloved husband of 71 years, Frank L. Tillia; and her son, Keith Tillia.
Mary attended Westminster College, where she concentrated on music and Bible studies. She raised her family and was self-employed under the name, Mary Tillia's Income Tax Service from 1961 until 2014.
At age 12, Mary dedicated her life to serving Our Lord, at Harmony Baptist Church, as pianist. Later, she was the organist, choir director and the director of drive-In church music until age 90.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony Baptist Church, 4103 Ellwood Road, New Castle, PA 16101.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Harmony Baptist Church in Mary Tillia's honor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation and Funeral Service by Gary S. Silvat Inc, Austintown, Ohio.
