Dale Richard Grimm, 89, of 3505 Meadowview Blvd., New Castle, passed away the evening of Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, after an extended illness.
He was born July 7, 1928, in New Castle to Joseph and Helen (Macom) Grimm.
Dale married Jeanne (Wilson) Grimm on Feb. 3, 1951.
Dale graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1945-46.
He served in the Army in Japan. Dale was called up during the Korean conflict and served at Fort Indiantown Gap from 1950 to 1951.
Upon release, Dale graduated from Tri-State University (Trine University) in Angola, Indiana, in 1955.
He was employed at Florida Power and Light in Miami, Florida, Rockwell International in New Castle and Pennelec (First Energy) in Johnstown, before retiring in Mercer.
Dale was a member of the Blue Lodge in Coral Gables, Florida and a 32nd degree member of the Valley Consistory of New Castle. He attended White Chapel United Methodist Church, New Wilmington.
Mr. Grimm is survived by his son, Daniel Grimm and his wife, Darla, in Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Joseph A. Grimm of New Castle; a sister, Maxine (Thom) Smith in Oberlin, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Russell, Matthew and Rachel Grimm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Wilson Grimm; and sister, Janet Maddox.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer. A Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, accompanied by a Military Honor Guard. Pastor Gary L. Sheesley from White Chapel United Methodist Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery, Springfield Township.
