DeWayne's Story

Text size

DeWayne Michael Flak, 75, of New Castle passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2017.
Born on Aug. 15, 1941, at home at 108 Quest St., New Castle, Pa., he was the son of Mike and Hazel (Seabert) Flak.
DeWayne was of the Lutheran faith and was married to the former Helen "Sissy" Boron on Nov. 19, 1988. She survives him at home.
DeWayne worked in paving for various contractors all his life.
He was an excellent pool player and in his younger years ran a pool hall above the old PO Lunch. He was also an avid bowler. For many years he ran a golf league at Castle Hills and took much pleasure playing the game, especially on his Thursday men's and Friday Night Friends leagues at Castle Hills and weekend outings at Sylvan Heights.
He was a fanatic for the game of Sudoku and loved his TV Westerns. Most recently he looked forward to his morning visits with his friends at Shop 'N' Save.
He was a gentle and easy-going man and a faithful friend to many. Helen and DeWayne shared many memorable times with best friends Nora and Rich and so many other dear friends.
He was a lifetime member of the New Castle Moose Lodge 51 and the Polish Falcons Nest 146.
In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his sisters, Joyce Young of New Castle, and Carole (Tito) Cialella of Chesterland, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews and was affectionately called "Voya" by the Cleveland ones. Some of his best friends were his dogs Bear and Emma and most recently Diamond, who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gordon.
On his birthday, Aug. 15, 2017, his family will receive friends with stories to share at St. John Lutheran Church, 2601 Highland Ave., New Castle, from 2 to 4 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow immediately with Rev. David Snyder officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc.
Love heals, love holds, love hopes.
