Dorothy Criswell, 92, passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Florida, where she had made her home for the last 30-plus years.
Dorothy was born on March 10, 1925, in New Castle to Elizabeth Mulvey and Daniel Hannon.
After the death of her mother, when Dorothy was only 12, Ellen McGowan became caregiver for the children and eventually became their mother. Dorothy was always close to her family and would go out of her way to help others. She had a very giving nature and volunteered in both New Castle and Bradenton.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time at her "cottage" playing cards, having picnics, cooking and doing craftss.
Dorothy was married to Jess Criswell for 49 years. Unfortunately, Jess passed away in 2003. In January 2014, Dorothy married Patrick Bondy in Florida. She was 88 and he was 80. She had a daughter, Mary Ellen Criswell Welch.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Joe, Jack, Bill, Don, Gene, Betty Hannon and Mary Katherine McEwen; her husband, Jess Criswell; and her grandson, Reed Patrick Welch.
She is survived by her husband, Pat Bondy; her daughter, Mary Ellen (Reed) Welch; her granddaughters, Stephanie (Rob) Ragain and Jennifer (Mike) Fair; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Jaden and Meghan Fair; her sisters-in-law, Jackie and Dot Hannon; her brother-in-law, Tom Criswell (Pat Criswell); and many nieces and nephews.
A mass to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at St. Camillus Parish, 314 W. Englewood Ave., New Castle, PA 16105.
