E. Bruce's Story
E. Bruce McKinney, 80, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of Sunday, April 9, 2017, in his residence. Bruce was born March 20, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of to the late Ralph and Helen Black McKinney.
Bruce graduated from McKeesport Vocational High School and later earned an Associates Degree from Penn State University, McKeesport Campus. Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Shaw AFB, Sumter, S.C. He was honorably discharged as an Airman Second Class. Bruce retired in 1989 from the Westinghouse Corporation's Pittsburgh plant, where he was employed as a draftsman for many years. He then owned and operated the Minuteman Press printing company in Port Vue, Pa., for 11years. Bruce was an active and faithful member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish, Mahoningtown, where he volunteered at the fish fry and various other church activities. An avid camper, he also enjoyed painting landscapes and cooking with his wife. Most importantly, Bruce loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. His wife of 59 years, the former Patricia C. Haney, whom he married Feb.15, 1958, survives at home. Also surviving are a daughter, Michele M. Jaworski and her husband, Stephen, of New Castle; two sons, Timothy M. McKinney and his wife, Carolyn, of McCandless, Pa., and Daniel D. McKinney and his wife, Kathy, of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Danielle and Kelly Jaworski, Keegan, Megan and Morgan McKinney, and Alexander and Colleen Cadman.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Judy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Amedisys Foundation, 240 Pullman Square, Suite 255, Butler, Pa. 16001.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. Military rites will be conducted at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 1 Lucymont Drive, New Castle, Pa. 16102; where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Frank Almade, pastor.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue, Pa.
