Ednamae Rose's Story
Ednamae Rose Benton, 90, formally of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Venango County, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Lutheran Senior Life in Butler.
She was born in Millvale, Pennsylvania, Allegheny County, on April 29, 1927, to William and Mathilda Noullect Mihlfried.
She married Robert James Benton on June 3, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1974.
She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates on television.
She recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (John) Goreczny of Franklin, Pennsylvania, and Cynthia (Tom) Hohmann of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania; five sons, Robert (Audrey) Benton Jr. of Wexford, Pennsylvania, James (Dona) Benton of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, Edward (Michelle) Benton of New Castle, William (Susan) Benton of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, and George (Brenda) Benton of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Agnes Benton of Moon Township; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Roy and William Mihlfried; a sister, Lois Wehner; and a son-in-law, Larry Lardin.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of The Lowrie Place, where she resided the last two years, and Lutheran Senior Life, where she received excellent care in her final days.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
PAA Prayer Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Seeman, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, presiding.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Castle.
