Emily Scott Meyers, 93, of New Castle passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2017, surrounded by her children.
She was born on March 22, 1923, in County Armaugh, Northern Ireland, to Samuel and Eliza King. She immigrated to the United States when she was five months old.
Emily graduated from New Castle Senior High School in 1941 and was a lifelong resident of New Castle.
On Feb. 3, 1945, Emily married John S. Meyers Jr., who passed away in 2002.
She was a dedicated member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church for more than 80 years. Emily worked for Shenango Pottery in the art department and later worked for New Castle Drug and Union Prescription Drug Stores in New Castle.
Emily was the loving mother of three children, John (Elaine) Meyers of New Castle, Richard (Karen) Meyers of McMurray, Pa., and Suzie (Norb) Stawicki of Columbus, Ohio.
Emily was cherished and adored by her 11 grandchildren, Steven (Erika) Meyers, Marie (Tom) Greene, Jessica Meyers, Scott (Missy) Meyers, Shelley (Mac) McMillon, Kelly (Jason) Ward, Tim (Jocelyn) Meyers, Becky (Ryan) Lieb, Emily Stawicki, Greg (Ginnie) Stawicki and Brad (Leah) Stawicki, and 19 great-grandchildren, Torin and Cassidy Meyers, Maddox and Braxton Greene, Isabelle, Henry, Isaac and Zac Meyers, Donovan, Darius, Dane and Davin McMillion, Carson Kiger and Melia Ward, Lance Meyers, Adalynn Lieb, Alden and Myra Stawicki, and Natalie Stawicki.
She was preceded in death by her older sister, Laura Boles of Sharon, Pa. Emily is also survived by two nieces, Patty (Franc) Niehaus and Nancy (Todd) Spears; nephew, Fred (Denise) Boles; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
One of Emily's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emily will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Chris Weichman of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
