Eugene E. Macek Sr., 87, of Bessemer, Pa., passed away in the early hours on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, New Castle.
Eugene was born on Feb. 26, 1930, in the Bessemer/North Beaver Township area. He was the son of Frank and Florence Macek. Eugene spent most of his life in the borough of Bessemer.
He graduated from Bessemer High and worked over 50 years at the Bessemer Cement plant, retiring in 1999. Eugene raised his family along with his wife the former Elizabeth Johns, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1954, who survives him.
Eugene was a Jehovah Witness by faith and was a loving father, devoted husband, adoring grandfather and great grandfather and a trusting friend and neighbor to those he knew.
Eugene enjoyed playing his button box accordion, taking care of those he loved, gardening and the outdoors and camping.
Eugene leaves behind his wife Elizabeth of Bessemer; daughter Cindy (Frank) Cinque of Bessemer; son Eugene (Joanie) Macek Jr. of Struthers, Ohio; daughter Marcy (Kevin) Fusselman of Niles, Ohio; sister Carol Grbac of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and brother Keith (Rita) Macek of Bessemer. His grandchildren are Frankie, Brian, Candalyn, Gretchen, Brandon and Chad; and four great-grandchildren.
Upon Eugene's request, the family will be conducting a private service at a future time and place. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer, Pa.
