Harriette S. Fray, 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away the morning of Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte.
Born on Sept. 21, 1937, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Mendal M. and Helen B. Smith.
Harriette worked as a registered nurse and managed the office of Dr. Ted Grauel before Dr. Grauel moved his practice to Massachusetts. She also worked as a rehabilitation nurse for the Travelers Group for many years. In addition to nursing, Harriette was the founder and owner of The Barn Door Gift Store in New Castle.
She enjoyed golfing, tennis and swimming as a former member of the New Castle Country Club.
Harriette's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially during the holidays when her children would travel back to New Castle to celebrate and enjoy her fantastic cooking.
Harriette is survived by her children, Todd Fray and his wife, Kathy, of New Castle, Chris Fray and his wife, Kathy, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Josh Fray and his wife, Ronda, of Waterford, Michigan, and Tyler Fray Michael and her husband, David, of Matthews, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Fletcher and Mila Michael.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Over; and her former husband, Bill Fray.
There are no calling hours and services are private.
