Harry A. Mooney Jr., 86, of New Castle passed away the evening of Friday, June 16, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Born on Oct. 19, 1930, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Harry (Huck) and Angeline Piccari Mooney.
On June 9, 1953, he married his beloved wife, the former Charlotte Montgomery, and the two of them spent 54 years together until she preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 2008.
Harry retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66.
He also served his country as a member of the Air Force.
Harry was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 455 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 315.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
Harry is survived by his children, Paula Welsh and her husband, John, Susan Notareschi, Cheryl Ann Mooney and Donald Mooney, all of New Castle, Marcie Earhart and her husband, Isadore, of Hampton, Virginia, Mary Rhodes and Jean Ann Fowler and her husband, David, all of New Castle; her half-sister, Norma Stiener of Butler; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours or services planned.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Harry's honor to a charity of the donor's choice.
