Herbert R. Jinks, 81, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Sept. 16, 2017, at Edison Manor.
Born on Aug. 14, 1936, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Leona Emery Jinks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Dorene Richey, whom he married on June 29, 1956.
Herbert retired as a shop foreman for Ellwood City Forge. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Herbert was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. A true outdoorsman at heart, he belonged to the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Herbert is survived by his children, Timothy Jinks and wife Lonnie, Todd Jinks, and Tricia Woods and husband David, all of New Castle; grandchild, Noah Woods; stepgrandchildren, Gary and Tricia Shay; great-grandchildren, Madison Woloszyn, Isaiah Shay and Gary Shay IV; and three sisters. Private services were held at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., officiated by Pastor Jeff MacKay.
Interment will take place in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
