Husan Salih, 88, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Friday, March 10, 2017, at The Grove at New Wilmington.
Born on Nov. 4, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Marie Salih.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 68 years, the former JoAnn Eason, whom he married on Dec. 8, 1948.
Husan had worked as a baker for Neil's Bakery and Giant Eagle.
He previously served as the president for The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union.
An avid baseball fan, Husan was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Pirates.
In addition to his wife, Husan is survived by his children, JoAnn Barrett of Pittsburgh, Janice Weaver of Pittsburgh, Deborah Smallwood and her husband, Michael, of New Castle, and Roxanne Harris of Pittsburgh; his brother, Omar Salih of McKeesport; his sister, Amina Bruce of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth (Wayne) Salih; son-in-law, John Harris; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Marsha Parrish.
