Joan Olacz, 80, of Shenango Township passed away May 2, 2017, after a brief illness.
Joan was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Yorkville, Ohio, and moved to New Brunswick, N.J., as a child.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Serwatka. Joan was married to Richard T. Olacz on May 11, 1959. They were married for 59 years. He survives at home. Mrs. Olacz was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Joan was a graduate of New Brunswick High School.
Mrs. Olacz retired after 50 years of service as co-owner with her husband at AACO Office Products. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She loved going to the casinos and traveling with her husband. Joan enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Olacz embraced technology and loved playing computer games and checking daily on Facebook, as to what her grandchildren were doing and accomplishing.
In addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by two children, Tara D. (Robert) Branz of Akron, Ohio, and Thomas R. (Carey) Olacz of Atlanta; sister, Dolores Saltarella of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Ava and Jonah Branz, of Akron, Ohio.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A Blessing service will be celebrated following visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Codori, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences may be viewed or given by visiting nogafuneralhome.com.
