JoAnn L. Esposito, 68, passed away the morning of April 8, 2017, at her residence in New Castle.
Born on January 23, 1949, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Carolyn A. Caffro Glorioso, both of New Castle. She also is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Andrew Esposito Jr., whom she married on July 18, 1970.
JoAnn had worked as a pharmacy technician for over 20 years for Shaffer and Snyder Pharmacy and then went on to work for Rite Aid Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. For JoAnn, life revolved around her family. She often traveled with her husband and friends, visiting her grandchildren in Tampa, FL and Las Vegas, NV. She also enjoyed time spent with her nieces and nephews in New Castle. JoAnn loved painting and was known for her artwork. She enjoyed working outside in her yard, flower gardening and also taking care of her koi pond.
In 2003, her life passion began when she was diagnosed with cancer. With the help of her son Brian, they began Par For the Cure. In 14 years, they raised over $1 million that they donated to fund research with the work of Dr. Dennis Slamon to help others who are diagnosed with the same disease. She will be remembered for her dedication and hard work that has helped countless others with this research.
In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnn is survived by her two sons, Brad Esposito and wife Nicole of Tampa, FL and Brian Esposito and wife Lanna of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Karen Esposito and husband Ron of New Castle, Karole Vanasco and husband David of New Castle, Patty Jeffords and husband Jeff of Tampa, FL, and Lee Ann Wawrzynski and husband Dr. Paul of New Castle; and her three grandchildren, Juliana, Sasha and Simone.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Vitus Church on Wednesday morning where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. officiated by Father Sam Esposito.
