John D. Curry, 77, formerly of East Washington Street, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at his residence in McKeesport.
Born on Sept. 14, 1939, in Woodbury, New Jersey, he was a son of the late William and Frances Dalbow Curry.
He married the former Sandra Bachman in 1961, and she passed away in 1967.
He then married the former Shirley Tranquillo in 1969, and she preceded him in death in 2009.
John is survived at home by his wife, the former Sandra Walker, whom he married in 2012.
John had worked for Rockwell Spring Division for 12 years. He later retired as St. Vitus Parish custodian and sacristan after working for more than 30 years.
He served his country as a member of the 1st Armor Division of the Army. John was a member of St. Vitus Church.
He also belonged to the New Castle Area Honor Guard and Italian-American War Veterans.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John C. Curry and wife, Mary Jo, of Pennsville, New Jersey, Stacy Beere and fiance, William Knox, of McKeesport, Steve Peters and wife, Connie, of Worthington, Pennsylvania, and Sanford Peters of Butler; brother, Lee Curry of Pennsville, New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann Curry.
Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade.
Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
