John Joseph Pelz, 79, of Bessemer passed away the evening of Monday, June 5, 2017, at UPMC Jameson in New Castle.
John was born in Zagreb, Yugoslavia on Aug. 27, 1937, a son of the late John and Theresa Shluger Pelz.
John was raised Catholic and retired from Carbon Limestone after 28 years of service.
He married Nancy Louis Ribarich on June 4, 1960, and she survives.
John enjoyed hunting and family gatherings.
Besides his wife, Nancy, John leaves behind his children, Steven Pelz of Bessemer, Michelle Cavalier (Mark Meanor) of Mt. Jackson and Andy Pelz (Sherry), also of Bessemer; his grandchildren, John Pelz, Courtney (Travis) Bessell and Jenna Cavalier; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Olivia Bessell. John also leaves behind three sisters, Margie (Joe) Simone, Rosie (John) Stec and Erika Churan, all of Poland, Ohio.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bronko Pelz
John's final request was to have no formal visitation or service, but to be remembered by the life he lived and the legacy he left behind.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Terry Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St., Bessemer.
