Justine A. Makarevich, 83, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Feb. 4, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on Jan. 20, 1934, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lena DiMuccio DeCaprio. Surviving at home is her beloved husband of 63 years, Paul Makarevich Sr., whom she married on April 25, 1953.
Justine retired as an import director and overseas buyer for Airway Industries after more than 25 years of working. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Justine enjoyed bowling, cooking and baking, and she was known as an excellent seamstress who loved to make blankets and clothing. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, Justine is survived by her son, Paul Makarevich Jr. and wife Linda of New Castle; sisters, Susan Cavallo of New Castle and Linda Deep and husband Michael of Newark, Ohio; granddaughters, Beth Van Gelder and husband Michael, Emily Makarevich, Hannah Makarevich and Tessa Makarevich; and great-granddaughters, Jocelin, Amelia and Eleanor.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
