Larry J. Burns, 69, of New Castle passed away the evening of April 27, 2017, at VNA Inpatient Hospice of Butler, Pa.
Born on Feb. 24, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Maxine Cooper Burns. He is survived by his former wife, Linda Bishop Burns of New Castle.
A 1966 graduate of Union High School, Larry retired as a driver for UPS. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Larry enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his former wife, Larry is survived by his children, Colleen K. Withrow, Lori Weir and husband Christopher, and Lindsey Burns and fiance Kevin Kenyon, all of New Castle; brothers, Matthew Burns and Thomas Burns, both of New Castle, and Mark Burns and wife Brenda of Atlanta; sisters, Maureen Burns of New Castle, Maxine Burns of Atlanta and Nina Scrim and husband Jeff of New Castle; sister-in-law, Barbara Burns of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Patrick and Paul Burns; sisters, Phyllis Crowe and Barbara Baxter; sister-in-law, Cindy Burns; and five infant grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, officiated by Father Joseph Codori of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
