Mabel G. McGinnis Fischer, 83, of Timber Lane, Hermitage, died peacefully at her residence on Friday, June 23, 2017.
She was born in Lackawannock Township, Mercer County, on March 26, 1934, to the late Charles J. and Delilah Snyder Gilliland.
Mabel married Walter L. "Mose" McGinnis in 1955, and he preceded her in death October 1984. She then married Richard A. Fischer, and he survives at the residence in Hermitage.
She was a wonderful homemaker and was a member of Church of Christ of Hermitage.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; a daughter, Kelly (Tim) Nan of New Wilmington; three sons, Kevin (Judy) McGinnis of New Castle, Bryan (Nancy) McGinnis of New Wilmington and Kirk (Leslie) McGinnis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Sally A. Moreno of West Middlesex and Linda l. (Wendell) Boyd of New Wilmington; two brothers, Dr. Charles (Cheryl) Gilliland of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jeffrey A. (Kim) Gilliland of New Wilmington; two stepsons, Richard Fischer and Thomas (Karen) Fischer; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mose McGinnis; and a sister, Charlotte E. Nier.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave, New Wilmington.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Anthony Renwick of Church of Christ and Mabel's brother, Jeffrey A. Gilliland, officiating.
Interment will follow at Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.
