Mary E. Gregg, 97, formerly of Mahoningtown, passed away the morning of March 7, 2017, at her residence in New Castle.
Born on Aug. 19, 1919, in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Olvidio and Mary Vincenzo Pompane. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married her beloved husband, George D. Gregg, and the two of them spent 50 years together until he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1997.
Mary and her husband owned Town & Country Cleaners. She was a former member of St. Margaret Church and currently attended St. Camillus Church. Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Mary is survived by her children, George G. Gregg and wife Patti and Barbara (Hasson) Davis and John, all of New Castle; grandchildren, Barry Miles, Samantha Jo Hasson, Mary Penwell and husband Bill, and Jeri Genkinger and husband Darryl; four great-grandchildren; and friend, JoAnn Cain and her husband David. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Hubbard, Irene Adams, and Louise Cangey, and brothers, Jesse, Dominic, and Louis Pompane.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday at St. Camillus Church, officiated by Father Michael Peck.
Interment took place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
