Michaeline "Jennie" Teleis, 99, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Providence Saint Joseph Hospital in Burbank, California.
Born on Sept. 25, 1917, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late John and Aniela Sniezek Tomusiak.
On Sept. 29, 1946, she married her beloved husband, John Teleis, and the two of them spent 40 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1986.
Michaeline started working for Shenango China in 1933 and became one of the longest working and proudest employees for the company, working there for 58 years. She kept track of all the designs that Shenango China put out and approved each design for use. By the time Shenango China shut down, Michaeline was in charge of decorating control, and she was very proud to head the production of the 1,500 commemorative plates made to honor the company's history. They all sold in two weeks.
For Michaeline, Shenango China was more than just a place to work; it was a way of life. She would always turn dishes over to see if there was a Shenango China stamp underneath it. Until the end of her days, she would still receive calls and letters asking for her to identify the prices of certain patterns of Shenango China.
A devoted Catholic, Michaeline was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish.
She also belonged to the Lawrence County Historical Society.
Michaeline left to cherish her memory her daughter, Michele Teleis (Fickle) and son-in-law, Thomas Fickle of Burbank, California; and grandchildren, Taylor Fickle, Rio Fickle and Rachel Teleis.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John P. Teleis; and her sisters, Vera Minteer, Mary Barczyk, Stella Dominick, Josephine Lastoria and Frances Dudek.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
Blessing services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.
Interment will take place in Madonna Cemetery.
