After a brief illness on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, Norma Jean (Stitt) Jackson, 58, of New Castle passed away at the Edison Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1959, in New Castle to Charles M. and Opal M. (Dicks) Stitt.
Norma is survived he her beloved husband of 17 years, Dave Duffield; children, Timothy (Jonna) Jackson of Struthers, Ohio, and Kimberly (Colman Forte) Jackson of New Castle; stepchildren, Steven Jackson and Melissa Jackson both of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Rusty Veon; and granddaughter, Maelana Forte. Norma always enjoyed life, but it was on the day that Maelana was born that a new light shined in her world. She so loved being a grandmother and cherished every moment she spent being called "Grammi."
Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Veon.
Norma was a dedicated driver for First Student Transportation in the New Castle Area School District for the last 21 years.
During her recent illness, she was most concerned to get back to her cherished pre-K students.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m. at South New Castle Borough Fire Hall, 104 N. Byers Ave., New Castle, PA 16101.
