Patricia A. Gittings, 80, of West Pittsburg died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after an undefined illness.
Born April 14, 1937, in Wheeling, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Mike Zelic and Eileen F. Hickman Wigley.
Patty retired after many years of driving bus for the New Castle Area School District and George Ku.
In her younger days, Patty enjoyed riding her '67 Harley-Davidson and had the pleasure of being in Life Magazine.
In her later years, Patty preferred to stay at home and enjoyed the comforts of the close-knit community of West Pittsburg with her loving husband and parrot, Echo.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Dale E. Gittings; a son, Jack Gittings; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and David Melillo, a daughter and son-in-law, Patty Jo and Henry McClenahan; two grandchildren, Nicole Pasquarello and Ty McClenahan; and one great-grandchild, Lorenzo Pasquarello; several nieces and nephews; and an estranged brother and sister-in-law, Dann and Mary Zelic.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mike Zelic and Eileen Wigley; her mother-in-law, Perna Gittings; her stepmother, Marjorie J. Zelic; her stepsister, Elizabeth "Ann" Burough; and her estranged sister, Sharon Schumaker Ferree McGowan.
Mrs. Gittings did not want any services. The arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Wilmington Road, New Castle.
