Pauline Papandreas, 96, of 130 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, passed away the morning of June 26, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Pauline was born in New Castle on May 28, 1921. Mrs. Papandreas was the daughter of the late John and Anitza Manusouthakis Christianakis. She was married to the late John E. Papandreas. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2005. They were married for 52 wonderful years. Pauline was of the Greek Orthodox faith and a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Mrs. Papandreas was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1939.
Mrs. Papandreas will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Pauline worked at the former Shenango China Company as a decorator. She also worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an insurance rater. Pauline was an avid gardener. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family, especially her grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleni Papandreas (Frank) Chmura of New Castle, and grandson, Jon Papandreas Chmura, of San Francisco, Calif.
In addition to her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Zabetakis and Sophie Othites, and two brothers, Theodore Christos, and Emanuel Christianakis.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Noga Funeral Home Inc. Rev. Michael will conduct a Trisagion service at 5 p.m.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, for St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Gavrilos, pastor of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 315 Englewood Ave., New Castle, Pa. 16105.
