Robert Wray Burig, 93, of Meadowbrook Drive, New Wilmington, Pa., died at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017.
He was born in Claysville, Washington County, Pa., on May 21, 1924, to the late Joseph Russell and Frances Mae Knox Burig.
He was happily married to the former Nancy Mercer for 67 years.
Mr. Burig retired from Wean United of Youngstown as a fitter assembler.
He graduated from Claysville High School, attended Westminster College and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He enjoyed golf and was a fan of the Steelers and Pirates.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of the residence; three sons, Gregory A. (Pam) Burig, Ronald K. (Linda) Burig and William K. (Barbara) Burig.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burig is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Barry and John Burig; and a sister, Betty Sprowls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, Westminster College or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
There will be no public services. Arrangements were entrusted to Smith Funeral Home of New Wilmington.
